Becky Mayer Centre for Phage Research Database
A curated phage biobank linking bacteriophage genotype and phenotype, developed through a collaboration between the University of Northumbria and the Becky Mayer Centre for Phage Research at the University of Leicester.
It serves as a national bacteriophage biobank, providing secure, long-term storage of phage isolates distributed across multiple sites to ensure resilience and continuity.
The biobank maintains curated collections linked to host, genomic, and experimental metadata, supporting reproducibility and enabling robust downstream research. It is designed to provide access to high-quality phage resources, freely available for academic research, with cost recovery for distribution.
What the Biobank Holds
The BMCPR biobank holds bacteriophage and bacterial isolates, along with their genomic and other metadata.
All types of phages are stored. It is not limited to phages only linked to phage therapy.
Get involved
We are actively looking to collaborate with the phage research community in the maintenance and storage of phage isolates.
